A practical tool to aid health professionals in medicine dosage calculations

The Norwegian Electronic Health Library and the Norwegian Medicines Agency have worked together to develop an app for drug calculation.

The app "Legemiddelutregning" is a practical tool and aid for health professionals. "Legemiddelutregning" is based on the dosage form (injection, infusion, tablets / capsules etc.) and guides the user step by step to the correct answer.

Healthcare professionals should always consider whether the answer is reasonable. Drug calculations should always be double checked. The app is an aid and does not change health professionals' responsibilities related to possible medication errors.

What's New in the Latest Version 1.2.15

Last updated on Aug 11, 2015 Three new calculations have now been added. They relate to infusion and dilution:

1. Infusion: You can now calculate infusion rate when dosage is specified in units per minute or hour.

2. Dilution: You can now calculate volume needed to dilute a solution to the desired strength.

3. Dilution: You can now calculate what strength you will end up with when adding a certain volume.

In addition, a number of smaller adjustments and enhancements have been made to the existing calculations.
